Drawing inspiration from ancient city-states of Izmir and surrounding areas, the project advocates the seamless integration of democratic principles into the everyday life of the city's inhabitants.
The project masterfully integrates these principles with the region's rich natural and cultural heritage, featuring designs that accentuate the biodiversity of the area. The former divider, Meles River, is revitalized into a unifying landmark - a symbolic thread connecting diverse landscapes, ecosystems, and communities. Using different elevations, it orchestrates a multi-layered experience of the urban landscape that invites exploration, interaction, and discovery. The project emphasizes using plant species that are native and resilient to the local climate, reducing the need for extensive irrigation. The aim is to create a city that thrives in harmony with its natural environment and provides equitable opportunities for all its inhabitants.
